This particular pedal is set up to give you enough control over the tone to find the perfect sound, but without adding in bunch of useless options like some other pedals do. The metal casing will hold up under any kind of punishment, enabling the pedal to give you long dependable hours of overdrive distortion production to get the most out of your guitar.

Loveless is a landmark album by the band My Bloody Valentine, and it is a study in overdrive and distortion that all guitar players interested in exploring the power of the instrument should be aware of. Never before, and probably not since, has overdrive distortion been used in such an essential and total way to create a tonal atmosphere for a record. Every song on this album is awash in distortion in a way that most people would not expect; it is done musically and delicately, and shows the usefulness of guitar overdrive and distortion as great effects that can enhance an arrangement and create an engulfing musical context.

My Bloody Valentine’s simple and elegant songs lay behind massive walls of guitar distortion on this revolutionary album, an the reason this work is so unique is because it uses the distortion as more of an environment for the songs to exist in rather than as a part of the songs themselves. After a few listens to some of the more dense selections, you may notice melodies and parts that were hidden away under the layers of overdrive, and this provides a great re-listening aspect.

The tracks themselves are expertly written pop songs using sophisticated harmonic progressions that most bands cannot match, but its their submersion in the all-encompassing guitar distortion that gives this album its character. Even the vocal lines, drums, and sampler created melodies of the tunes play into the overall overdrive distortion sound. The vocals are soft and whispery, and they blend perfectly into the higher frequencies produced by the distortion. The drums are usually light and treble heavy, and the delicate sampler lines also take on the same kind of tone as the guitars.

The overall effect of this album is an incredible wholeness. Nothing is out of place in the context they have created, and every part works together to make the songs better. Never before has an attempted aesthetic been so well executed over an entire album, and never before has guitar overdrive distortion been used in such a intriguing and beneficial manner.

Although there are other pedal options that will give you more control over individual overdrive and distortion variables, this boss pedal is a good choice for anyone who wants some of both types of distortion without paying a lot for a fancy pedal. Boss pedals have a good reputation with distortion and overdrive of all types for either guitar or bass, so you really cant go wrong with them.

This is the Double Trouble Guitar overdrive pedal. What is interesting about this pedal is that it features two different overdrive effect channels built into one unit.
What further enhances this pedal is the fact that it comes with a noise reduction system that should help you get nothing but the pure tone of the overdrive distortion. This is something that most other pedals do not include, and if it sounds like you need less noise in your setup, this may be the pedal to consider for that.

It is good to see this type of innovation in guitar pedals steadily increasing. Hopefully pedals will continue to be upgraded and improved so that guitars will continue to sound better and better. In the future, overdrive distortion pedals may be developed that deliver the perfect guitar tones, so we should continue to support this mission.

The knobs on the unit are labeled Anger, Loudness, and Temper, instead of your usual tone and gain names. This is a bit of nice overdrive distortion humor.

A pedal like this is a good choice for any guitar player because its built on a well tested, proven design. This is a solid design that has delivered overdrive distortion for thousands of players over the years, and even some of the best professionals still use a proco rat distortion pedal or one of its clones like this one. If you are in the market for a well built pedal that will last you a while, the Dead Rat distortion pedal is a great choice.

This pedal has plenty of controls for the different aspects of your tone, and it puts it all into a pretty crazy looking case. Its not really my style, but if you don’t mind the way it looks this is a fine pedal to get. For those who want to get a little more experimental and extreme with their overdrive distortion, this may be the pedal for you.

Guitar overdrive distortion can be a very effective device to use for a more natural tone. Some people would call a clean guitar tone a natural tone, but I’m thinking of this in a different way. Few sounds in the world are as pure as the clean sound of guitar strings ringing or piano keys ringing. What I mean by natural is making them more imperfect in the way that a violin or saxophone note can be.

If you listen carefully to a saxophone, you can hear a little of what might be called overdrive or distortion in the sound. The same can be true for a violin or any string instrument that used a bow. There are little imperfections in the sound created by the bow going across the strings. You can even observe this in instruments like the flute.

To get this type of general light distortion on the guitar, overdrive pedals can be used with great effect. A light overdrive distortion on your guitar tone can add a lot of complexity and more depth to your sound. If set up correctly, this technique can be used to add a great range to your tone, in that it can be set so that the distortion will only appear when the strings are struck hard, and otherwise, you will have a mostly clean tone.

Most people just think of the usual heavy overdrive guitar sound when they thing about overdrive distortion pedals, but there is a lot more that these effects are capable of. At times, they can be used to create some really delicate and warm guitar sounds, and a player would be wise to explore everything that a pedal is capable of.

Everyone knows that overdrive and distortion are great effects for the guitar in many different styles, but something that is less talked about is the fact that you can use overdrive distortion to make exiting effects with many other instruments. This is something that many musicians are starting to work with, but it happens a surprising minority of the time. There is no reason that overdrive should be kept exclusively to the guitar, and hopefully more producers and composers will start using it.

One example of a great way to reattribute guitar overdrive would be to put it on a piano track. This will not always work, but you can create a great sound if you make it happen in the right circumstances. It will give the piano a more industrial and edgy sound that work great on certain tracks. This effect can also be used to give the piano a more distant sound, or match it with some distorted guitar tracks better.

Besides the piano, there are a ton of other ways to appropriate overdrive distortion to new instruments. The main thing that you will notice is that it transforms other instruments in the same way that it does the guitar, and with the greater ability that software and equipment has given individuals to make music, it is important to take advantage of every sound that you can.

Effects like overdrive distortion are crucial tools for any musician or producer, and knowing how to use them in the right way is the key to making good compositions. You need to be able to determine what the purpose and effect of certain sounds are, and how to use them to bring across your overall effect. This is the essence of a good production job in music, and any musician will need to know how to structure their songs around available sounds.

Guitar overdrive distortion being used in whatever way is just another means to an end, and it is important to treat it as such. Sound experiments are not the same as music, and while it is great to make some cool noises, in order to craft meaningful music, you need to use effects as part of the music, not make them the music itself. This is all about using guitar effects in the right way so that they don’t become the focus, but instead just become another beneficial aspect of the composition. This is what overdrive distortion can offer you.

One thing that a lot of guitar players do not know about guitar overdrive pedals is that they have been used to by several jazz musicians to copy the general sound that a saxophone or trumpet makes. Usually overdrive pedals are just thought of in a rock context to supply the usual distortion and overdriven sounds. However, some of the more interesting uses of this common guitar effect are by a few notable jazz guitar players.

Grant Green is one of the first, if not the first, to use guitar overdrive effects to imitate the sound of a horn. As one of the early guitar players in jazz at a time when guitar effects were just getting started, he sought a way to make his instrument stick out for solo lines like a blazing horn solo does. His solution was to use his amp to create an overdriven tone that cut through the band and made his guitar sound more like the imperfect sound of a horn being blown through. This use of guitar overdrive helped him solo more effectively and let everyone hear his lines without any straining.

His solution was to use his amp to create an overdriven tone that cut through the band and made his guitar sound more like the imperfect sound of a horn being blown through. This use of guitar overdrive helped him solo more effectively and let everyone hear his lines without any straining.

Another player to use guitar overdrive and distortion well to capture the sound of wind instruments is Kurt Rosenwinkel. On his album Heartcore, Rosenwinkel first imitates the sound of the saxophone on one of his songs by adding a fair amount of overdrive distortion to his guitar. By coming in right after the sax with this sound, he makes you think he is playing anything but a guitar. After a few seconds its clear that its just a guitar with overdrive, but the similarities help to unify the song and make an interesting improvised section.

On another song he comes in right after a flute solo with a slightly different overdrive distortion effect to mimic the flute. This one is even more remarkable, and again works well to bring the song together as a whole and not make the guitar sound out of place with all of the other acoustic instruments that are in the arrangement. Uses of guitar overdrive like this can really bring some great creativity into your playing, and you should try to use guitar effects to this end.

One of the best parts about any type of guitar pedal is that you can create a whole new tonal pallet that should help you explore new areas in your playing. Overdrive pedals can be a nice way to mix up your sound and allow you to achieve sounds that other instruments get naturally.

The considerations of when to use guitar overdrive during practice and when not to can be very important for any player. Overdrive effects can either help or harm your practice routine, depending on what it is that you are doing, so you need to know what effects it can have and when you want to implement them. First, lets talk about how guitar overdrive can hurt your practicing.

If you are trying to do complex finger exercises you want to be able to hear any mistakes that you are making. This is one of the biggest ways an overdrive pedal can damage your playing. Overdrive will hide small mistakes in fingerings that you make, and though this may sound like a good thing, if you are not hearing your mistakes in practice you will not be able to fix them. When performing a concert it is fine that you not hear small mistakes, even desirable, but during practice you want to use a clean tone to be able to hear anything you are doing wrong.

You also want to think about the musical effect you are trying to get when you play anything. Is overdrive the right thing for the job? In some situations overdrive can help bring out your tone and mesh with the music, but in others, overdrive can be a distraction. Don’t use a guitar effect just to use it, think about what it should accomplish and what you want to do with it.

Now, one of the ways guitar overdrive can help with your practicing is by letting you explore different playing styles. It is an easily observable fact that when you have overdrive, distortion, or any other effect on your sound you will react to it and change the way you are playing, compared to just a clean tone. The way that your instrument sounds will effect the things that you play: the chords, melodies, and other musical elements. Having some guitar overdrive engaged will allow you to see how you play with a new type of sound, and this can lead to you developing some new techniques and discovering some new things to practice.

Guitar overdrive effects should be used to enhance your playing and practicing, and this means thinking about how and when it should be used. To become the best player possible, you need to be well versed in the different sounds the guitar is capable of, and overdrive distortion is one of the best places to start with this.
